I heard people say organic food is very bad for you, I've read about "hidden dangers", risks of deadly bacterial infections, and yes even cancer!

If you can afford to eat organic food, it's entirely up to you. But there are no increased health benefits, no taste benefits, no benefits to the farmer, and certainly no environmental benefits. If you're worried about bacteria, then wash it. Organic food is no more carcinogenic than any other food.

I think there is a lot of misinformation and doomsday sayers about all types of foods.

For instance, there are those who freak at eating cloned foods yet we all have eaten for a very long time. Potatoes are cloned food.

Genetically altered food is another subject that gets people all in a twist but that is how Luther Burbank developed new types of types of fruits and he did it in the 1800's. Its how hybrid varieties were invented as well. Not new at all.

Every week there is something new to get all upset over.

I doubt organic foods have any "Hidden" dangers. What do you think our ancestors all ate before chemicals were invented??

I also doubt that eating only organic foods will revolutionized the health of everyone. Its a little more complicated than that.

My advice to you is eat what you think is best for you. Do some research and make a decision for yourself and your family. And take everything you read with a grain of salt and use your own common sense.

its probably not that bad. first of all there isn't a lot of regulation in terms of what can be called "organic" and there's a lot of different opinions on what organic should mean (does using fertilizers count for instance?)

most of the controversy is in the market side of organic food, is it really worth the increase in costs from the growers end, and thus the increase in precises for the buyers to have organic food rather than mass produced food.

There are no such dangers in organic food. Ancient tribes that have been isolated from the rest of the world only ate food they caught or harvested. They never had problems with cancer, dental, or cardiovascular like we do. However, once they adopted a "modern" diet, cases of all three sky-rocketed. The only big issue with organic food in America is that we can't make it cheaper than processed food. The transportation costs are astronomical, and it has very limited shelf life compared to processed food.

Organic food really does not have too many benefits or drawbacks when it comes to eating them. Heck the term "organic" doesn't even really have a proper definition.

They do however have very negative effect on the environment as they require a great deal more land and resources to farm.

The only controversy i know about them is that they're more expensive than regularly grown food while having no advantage in terms of nutrient content and taste.

Worried about pesticides? Wash them well in running water.

Organic foods can cause bacterial infections, if they are contaminated with things like feces of animals kept nearby. All unclean foods can do that, but it's easy to wash your food. If the food is organic or not, it can still carry bacteria, so wash your food carefully and you should be safe.

Here's the problem. The companies that manufacture GMO foods, and other foods made with cheap, chemical ingredients, have to have a market to sell their chemical laden foods. If people learn how healthful and nutritious organic foods are compared to their manufactured, lifeless foods, they will not want to eat what is offered for sale in grocery stores.

People will then shop for locally grown produce and meats from farmers who use heirloom seeds that can be saved from year to year. They will seek meat, milk and eggs from animals fed grass and grain instead of ground up parts from other animals.

Because these companies must make huge amounts of profit to make their shareholders happy, they lobby in Washington to cause politicians to outlaw healthy, organic practices, or to make it harder for honest farmers to produce healthy foods.

The politicians pass laws that make it hard to sell organic produce that has not been irradiated to cause the foods to lose their living enzymes. This is what happened with organic spinach a couple of years ago that was contaminated with feces from hogs kept nearby. It took many months before organic spinach could be found in stores after that.

But did you know that products such as conventionally grown produce in salads cause illness and death for diners in restaurants many times but nothing is done about removing those non-organic foods from the restaurants? The difference? The farms are managed by huge corporations with millions to lobby in Washington, not small organic farmers that struggle to make a living selling healthy foods for human consumption.

Cancer? Each day you eat sugar, flour, processed foods full of trans fats and hydrogenated oils, irradiated produce devoid of lifegiving enzymes, meats, dairy and eggs full of hormones, pesticides, and antibiotics. If you want to spot cancer-causing foods, look no further than the conventionally grown and manufactured foods on every grocer's shelf.

To avoid cancer, try a little broccoli, some carrots or beets, or a bowl full of juicy, delicious berries. Cancer is not found in organic foods, but is a mechanism of the body as it is polluted with toxins and chemicals. The body tries to protect itself from those toxins by storing them in safe places such as in fat cells in the body. When too many toxins build up and can't be eliminated, then cancer is created.

Think about it: Less toxins and chemicals, less things to cause cancer in the body. More toxins and chemicals, more chances for cancer to develop. Organic foods help save you from cancer, they don't cause it.

Not nearly as much controversial as genetically engineered food.

You've already eaten genetically engineered food whether you know it or not. How do you like the cloned beef (or should I say cloned bull?) you've been fed?

I'll take my chances with food grown from seeds that have evolved for billions of years and raised in honest dirt just as my for fathers did. That seems a ot less risky to me.

Here's some organic info.

actually, the flouride and pesticides are the things most likely to do that, and they are in the regular food, NOT organic
