I work in retail and I am constantly standing all day. My feet hurt so bad, I cannot even begin to describe it. Is there anything I can take to get rid of this pain? It's getting to the point where I can't keep standing these long hours. Please help!

Have you tried stretching your feet and icing them after a shift? I've struggled with foot pain in the past and stretching really helped with my pain. Roll a towel up and place it in the arch of your foot and pull until you feel the stretch. Be careful that you don't overextend it. You can also freeze bottled water and use that to ice your feet. The bottle will fit in the arch, you can put the frozen water bottle on the floor and roll it with you feet. You could also try reflexology and soaking your feet in Epsom salt. My foot pain got so bad I had to go to a podiatrist. He gave me a few different options I could choose for the pain. One of them was a prescription for a medication called Pennsaid. It helped a lot, but it isn't cheap and can be hard on your liver if you use if for a long period of time. Unfortunately, nothing is going to take the place of resting it. Best of luck!

1. A foot massager or acupressure mat.

2. Super power magnets 4500 gauss - North pole undert right foot amnd south pole under left foot for 30 minutes. There must be a wooden plank between magnets and the ground. Don't keep magnets directly on ground.Lest, magnets lose their power of attraction.

3. Magnetized water.

Spend your money on a really good pair of shoes. Rockport makes very good supportive shoes. If you stand in one place, and the floors are concrete underneath the flooring, inquire about the company getting thick rubber floor pads. These are very common in places like pharmacies where people stand in one spot for long hours. Depending upon where you have pain, specific pads can help. If you have pain in the middle of the heel, you might have bone spurs, and heel pads can be very helpful. If you have pain in the ball of the foot under the 2nd or 3rd toe you could have a "neuroma", and metatarsal padding can be very helpful. These can be found in the foot care section of your local pharmacy.

Yes, the doctor can prescribe you something but Youtube has physical therapy videos showing how to eliminate certain types of foot pain.

My husband worked a job where he was on his feet all day - he bought a pair of orthopaedic insoles which worked wonders. Definately ditch the heels for some low heeled shoes. Epsom salts in the foot bath will work a treat.

Some good answers already. Take an extra pair of comfortable shoes in a different style to work every day, and change at lunch time. Sit whenever you can. Alternate standing on the left and right foot, to take the weight off one. Lose weight if overweight.

If your workplace only has a hard floor, ask if a more comfortable surface could be supplied, and if the answer is unfavourable, ask if you could provide an acceptable one in the form of a thick rug or rubber matting. Consider seeking a job where you don't have to spend so much time on your feet, as the problem may well be long term.
